Meta have just released a 4 part branded content series "Naija Odyssey", commissioned by WhatsApp, about the life of a basketball star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The storyline is a Nigerian twist on The Odyssey by Homer, which is the story of the Greek hero Odysseus who travels the world trying to get back home. The Greek and Nigerian basketball star’s journey mirrors the epic Greek poem and exemplifies the significance WhatsApp has had in connecting individuals to their community back home.
The reason why it caught my attention & is that Meta are leveraging long-form content to engage their audience, while telling authentic stories.
Our Managing Director @Spero Patricios always tells us he is from the Island of Ithaca, the home of Odysseus and to top it all, we are producing branded content in Nigeria.
